First Step of the Two-Step LASIK Surgery Procedure
May 5, 2010
www.toronto-laser.com LASIK eye surgery requires two main steps, the first of which is to create a flap on the outer cornea. Traditionally, the flap has been made by a LASIK surgeon using a mechanical device called the microkeratome. Recently, however, an exciting new technology called the INTRALASE® has been used to create the corneal flap. The INTRALASE® uses a special laser to create many millions of tiny bubbles inside the cornea, effectively creating a flap. The use of the laser helps not only helps to avoid LASIK complications but also to ease the anxieties of patients.
